Dr. Annette Thielle

Superintendent

Del Valle ISD

About me

Annette Tielle, Ed.D. is the Superintendent at Del Valle Independent School District in Del Valle, TX, minutes away from Austin. With more than 30 years of experience, she was formerly the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum at both Comal ISD and Pflugerville ISD. She graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and received her Master's Degree at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. She continued her education and pursued an Ed.D. through the University of Texas at Austin Cooperative Superintendency Program. As a seasoned educator, Dr. Tielle’s passion is building a personal belief system within every student where they know any goal they set for themselves is possible. She recognizes the grit, adaptability, and integrity of DVISD students and believes every student will graduate with the ability to attend a two-year or four-year college or graduate from high school, possessing the skill sets needed to go right into the workforce. During her time as Superintendent, DVISD has grown its Early College High School (ECHS) and Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) to include a stellar partnership with Tesla and Infineon, allowing for the construction of the district’s first ECHS & P-TECH with direct pathways to Tesla jobs for students. Under Dr. Tielle, DVISD has also expanded its Career and Technical Education programs, which prepare students for high-paying careers upon graduation in various fields. At the elementary and middle school levels, the district has implemented a district-wide dual language immersion program for the community’s large Spanish-speaking population and parents who wish their students to learn Spanish and English in the classroom. The language program meets students where they are, developing their home language alongside English and vice versa, setting DVISD students up for success in today’s global society. She also took the lead in developing a partnership with the CEO of Austin-based STEAM children’s museum, Thinkery, to bring innovative professional development to the district’s early childhood educators and design space within one of Del Valle ISD’s Child Development Centers that will bring a neighborhood museum into the Del Valle community within the next year. She has cultivated a culture of support and collective efficacy through such programs, maintaining the core belief that all students will succeed and having a student-first mindset.
