The opening keynote address from Mayor John Cowen, Jr. will present a high-level vision of Brownsville as a "future-ready" city that has transitioned from being "discovered" to being "chosen" by major global industries.
Having recently delivered his 2026 State of the City address, titled "Prosperity with Purpose," he will focus on the city's unprecedented economic momentum and the strategic infrastructure supporting it. He will discuss insight into global industry hubs, updates on the "massive engines" driving the local economy, including SpaceX’s manufacturing expansion at the Port of Brownsville and the multi-billion dollar Rio Grande LNG and Texas LNG projects.
He will address major connectivity projects, such as the oil refinery project, expansion at the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport, significant investments in broadband expansion, perspectives on the city's rapid population gain, and the resulting boom in housing and retail demand.
