About me
I am a strategic thinker and inclusive leader who delivers results. As an educator and entrepreneur with over 25 years of diverse experiences, I partner with my community and those I serve to engage, coach, and develop each of us toward the best versions of ourselves and the attainment of individual and shared goals. My experiences working in Higher Education including Facilities Management and Operations, Student Success Initiatives, Dean of Students, New Student Services, Student Activities and Greek Life, Leadership and Intercultural Education, Residence Life, Student Life, Student Accessibility Services, Career Services, Student Emergency Services, Student Judicial Services, and course instruction.
Currently, I serve as the Director of the Make It Center at Austin Community College (ACC). Additionally, for the past 8 years I have had the honor of teaching at ACC in the Student Development department as an adjunct Professor. As my schedule permits, I also enjoy teaching various fitness classes as part of ACC’s Employee Wellness Program.
Prior to joining ACC, I spent two and a half years as an entrepreneur starting up and growing Front Door Fitness, LLC, a company that provides customized fitness training and nutrition coaching services and is in its tenth year of operation. This business was started while serving as an Assistant Director at The University of Texas (UT) at Austin in the Office of the Dean of Students with the Leadership and Ethics Institute (LEI). While at UT, I led efforts to create the organizational structure of LEI which entailed realigning pre-existing programs and services; developing and implementing new programs and initiatives; and recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, developing and supervising a staff inclusive of full-time professionals, graduate assistants and student leaders. I also taught at UT Austin in the department of Educational Psychology on topics related to leadership and ethics, social justice, power and privilege, and intersecting identities.
Other organizations of notable employment include Delta Community College, Central Michigan University, Delaware State Hospital, Loyola University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and Todd & Associates Consulting.
My doctorate is in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University and my MBA is from Loyola University Maryland. I have extensive experience in leadership and team-building facilitation and training programs and have had the opportunity to create and implement several leadership development, student success, and diversity and inclusion programs from the ground up at the various colleges I have worked for. I thrive in dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environments that allow for creativity, partnerships, and cultivating relationships.
